She then discovers that the later writers copied the relevant passage from a single earlier account, rather than recording separate observations. <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">The fact that several documents repeat a claim does not, by itself, give us several independent reasons to accept it. Where the agreement results from copying, counting each document as a separate confirmation would amount to mistaking the multiplication of records for an increase in evidence about the event.
